TEAM MEMBER
“After 30 years of learning about child development and educational pedagogy, this is what I know for sure; in order to thrive, children need trusted adults to believe in their potential. The impact we have on young minds is profound. When we work together to create cultures of care, we are reminded that even the smallest effort to connect can help a child learn to believe in themselves.”
Greatest Strength
My greatest strength is my ability to listen well and let other people know they are being heard. In the past, I’ve had people tell me that they feel really comfortable talking to me and that they appreciate me listening without judgment.
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Luther College
Master’s Degree in School Counseling, Butler University
Professional Background
I have 10+ years of combined experience in the school counseling and community mental health field. I was a School Counselor for 8+ years, working primarily with elementary- and middle-school-aged students. I then transitioned to working in community mental health as a team supervisor and as a Wraparound Facilitator.
Motivation
My dedication stems from the conviction that every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. I am deeply committed to providing them with the necessary tools and support to succeed. Knowing that my efforts can positively impact a young person’s life, even in the slightest, is what drives me to continue this vital work.
How did your past experiences lead you to this work?
My lifelong desire to help others led me to discover a deep passion for youth advocacy during my college years. While serving as a school counselor, I encountered numerous students who lacked a support system, and I dedicated myself to changing that reality. Through these experiences, I recognized that achieving significant impact requires a collaborative team approach, prompting me to seek out roles focused on collective efforts to support young people.
Why School Care Team?
I’m very excited to join School Care Team and be part of an organization dedicated to my passion of promoting wellness and a culture of care in the community. I’m thrilled that I get to help not only schools, but the community develop a sense of belonging and collaboration for all kids.
Superpower of Choice
If I had a superpower it would be the ability to control time. I would love to slow down time without it impacting anything so I could spend more time with my kids and still get everything else done.
