Shannon Tenney

Program Director

After struggling with my own health and overall wellness through the years, it is my passion to take what I have learned, experiences I’ve gleaned from, education I’ve gained and help others in their journey toward wellness. I have enjoyed over twenty years of youth focused work including coaching, teaching, preschool care, teen advising, and youth program development. I also have a background in substance use management services and have worked in the health and wellness industry for 20+ years.

Professional Background

With over 20 years of youth-focused work and over 20 Health and Wellness Certificates and Certifications, Shannon has a passion for whole-person wellness which benefits those she works with in a holistic way. Prior to her role at School Care Team, she provided dynamic leadership in the Director of Wellness, Sports, and Aquatics role at the Renaissance Pointe YMCA. She has also served members and clients in many roles at Renaissance Pointe as a part time staff member. She was a case manager at a recovery facility and has been working in the youth and fitness field the majority of her life. Shannon aims to bring the best out of those around her and challenges individuals to do the hard work, while providing support, encouragement, and resources along the journey toward wellness.

Motivation & Vision

Shannon is motivated by the opportunity to promote youth wellness and strengthen community health in lasting, impactful ways. She is passionate about creating environments where young people feel supported, empowered, and equipped to thrive—emotionally, mentally, and socially. Recognizing the vital role adults play in shaping youth outcomes, Shannon is equally committed to equipping parents, educators, and community leaders with the tools and knowledge needed to effectively support the next generation. Through her work, she aims to build a culture of resilience, mental wellness, and collective advocacy for youth and families alike.

Superpower of choice

If Shannon had one superpower, it would be teleportation — not to escape, but to arrive. To show up when it matters, to help where needed, and to never miss a moment with the people she loves. Driven by a deep desire to help others, she believes in being present — not just physically, but fully. Whether it’s supporting family, showing up for friends, or seizing an opportunity, Shannon wants to be all in. Life moves fast, and she hates missing out — not because of fear, but because every moment counts. In her ideal world, she would blink and be there: lending a hand, making someone smile, or soaking in time with the people who matter most. No traffic. No delays. Just pure connection. Until teleportation becomes real, she will keep doing everything she can to maximize every second and make every choice count.
